“Untitled (truth)” is part of a series of works begun in 2020 that explore the metaphorical potential ofgesture as a vehicle for language. In this case, the gesture is a copy from the painting “Incredulità diSan Tommaso” (1602), more specifically, from one of the key characters in Caravaggio´s work - St.Thomas - popularly known as “the unbeliever”. By appropriating this symbolic gesture, the workmaintains the ambiguity of the painting and opens up space for multiple interpretations, letting thegesture itself, in its visual form, convey what words cannot.
