This is an exact but fragmented reproduction of a key to one of the doors of the female juvenile section of Baumettes prison in Marseille. From a cast, and with the help of a dental technician, Nicolas Daubanes made a copy of this key. The choice of dental porcelain was made in order to conceive the perfect object for an escape attempt, -a material that crosses both space and time. Porcelain passes through security gates while retaining the necessary strength to operate the lock system. Nicolas Daubanes chose not to assemble the pieces thus created in order to remain within the framework of sculpture, and not to produce the exact copy of a prison key, which is a punishable crime.
