On the occasion of Loop City Screen 2023, ADN Galeria presents 'Tales from the Mountaintop' by Adrian Melis. This new video work can be seen at ADN Galeria until November 30th.
"Tales from the mountaintop" is a collaborative audiovisual project involving 30 individuals of Cuban origin who reside in the vicinity of the Sierra Maestra mountains, a historically significant location in the Cuban Revolution. These inhabitants, now living in challenging conditions, will be invited to recreate the sonic landscape of revolutionary feats using objects and materials found in their surroundings. This technique, known as Foley Art, will enable them to mimic natural sounds and key actions of the revolution. The project aims to expose the gap between past political ideology and the current reality of disillusionment and decay, creating a contrast between what is seen and what is heard in a context of outdated ethical and aesthetic values. "Tales from the mountaintop" places the viewer in the midst of two realities: one social and one political, represented by the current inhabitants of a place marked by the failure of a societal project.
